Memorials for Missing and Murdered Aboriginal Women and Girls
On February 14 every year, many communities across Canada recognize and mourn hundreds of missing and murdered Aboriginal women and girls, and protest the failure of the federal and provincial governments to take effective action to end this national tragedy.
The situation has recently drawn international attention, as the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) has decided to conduct an inquiry into the murders and disappearances of Aboriginal women and girls across Canada.
Attached is a poster advertising a fundraiser in Toronto on February 11 and a rally on February 14. Major events are also planned for Montreal and Vancouver on February 14.
