Ontario's Debt, Canada's Woes by Andrea Mandell-Campbell, December 22, 2011
It's misguided to blame Ontario's debt on full-day kindergarten instead of the billions of dollars being spent on yet more corporate tax cuts (Ontario's Debt, Canada's Woes - Dec. 22). Not only will these tax cuts cost $2. 4-billion a year, Ontarians will see little if any return on investment in terms of job creation. Research continues to demonstrate that investment in early learning, by contrast, contributes to student success, which will lead to increased productivity and a stronger economy. The evidence couldn't be clearer as to how Ontario can decrease its debt. It surely isn't on the backs of young children about to start school.
