London Day of Action Against Caterpillar Inc.Saturday, January 21, 2012
On January 21st, Provincial Executive members and staff joined ETFO local officers and members from across the province in supporting locked out CAW Local 27 workers.
Local 27 members build locomotives at the Electro-Motive Canada plant in London Ontario. Electro-Motive is a subsidiary of U.S. industrial giant Caterpillar Inc. The employer, which enjoyed billion dollar profits and a 20% boost in production last year, is attempting to slash benefits and is demanding a 50% pay cut.
The London Day of Action was organized by the Ontario Federation of Labour and the CAW to protest Caterpillar Inc.'s greed, and the complicity of all levels of government in Canada with a corporate agenda which seeks to eliminate decent jobs.
