There is no better maritime outdoor classroom than Canada's Bay of Fundy. Twice a day the tide at the mouth of the Bay rise and fall eight meters stirring up nutrients that have drifted to the ocean floor.
Join us as we explore this unique environment and the diversity of life it supports. What we catch and collect is what we will study, draw, paint and cook!
Time is also set aside to share ideas on how to adapt our marine examples to your own classroom.

This course is designed for elementary teachers who have some music training, are comfortable singing and have basic music reading skills. Throughout this course, the teacher will continue to develop existing music skills as well as learn new approaches to teaching music in a classroom. Topics will include music reading and writing, creating and composing, Canadian folk music, choral conducting and rehearsal techniques for the elementary choir.
Upon completion of the course, the teacher will have a series of classroom-ready hands-on materials and a repertoire of age appropriate songs. Successful completion earns Level I certification endorsed by the Kodály Society of Ontario, the Kodály Society of Canada and Laurier's Office of Continuing Studies.

The 2012 Ophea Conference will provide an invaluable professional learning experience for leaders who support the health and learning of children and youth in Ontario’s schools and communities.
Delegates include elementary and secondary teachers, administrators, health and physical education consultants, public health professionals, recreation leaders, and others interested in the health of children and youth.
Workshops at the 2012 Ophea Conference will offer new information and insights on ways to support healthy active living for children and youth or put an interesting twist on current practices, and will include topics such as:
- Incorporation of mental health promotion
- Developing policy related to healthy schools and communities
- Basic principles of how to teach health and physical education
- Activity programs using big or outdoor spaces
- Ideas and tips for developing and supporting health and physical literacy
- Creative ways to develop and maintain health-related fitness
- Head injury and concussion prevention
The 2012 Ophea Conference invites workshop applications from professionals who can offer new information or insight on ways to support healthy active living for children and youth or put an interesting twist on current practices. The submission deadline for presenter applications is Monday, April 30, 2012.
