Teaching Green – Environmental
Education Workshop
Quality professional development in partnership with ETFO locals across the province
Teaching Green is an after-school workshop designed to provide practical strategies, resources and curriculum connections that support environmental education and sustainable practices in the classroom and the community.
The goals of the workshop are:
- To help teachers gain a deeper understanding of the importance of environmental education and sustainable practices connected to the classroom and the community;
- To effectively integrate environmental education through cross-curricular connections;
- To engage in dynamic professional learning that provides networking opportunities and highlights the need for an integrated approach to environmental education and learning; and
- To explore strategies to turn ideas into action in the classroom, on the school yard and in the local community.
In this partnership, the local will provide a workshop liaison to be the contact person. The local is also responsible for:
- Advertising the session;
- Providing a workshop venue;
- Communicating with the presenter;
- Ordering snacks and refreshments;
- Confirming the number and the names of the participants; and
- Working with staff from the provincial office.
The provincial office is responsible for:
- Presenter costs (presentation fee, release time, travel, accommodation, meals-in-transit, etc.);
- Workshop materials;
- Delivering resource and evaluation materials prior to the workshop; and
- Working with staff from the local office.
To book a workshop, please send an email to Samira Maherali at smaherali@etfo.org. An e-mail confirmation will be sent with each request. A second e-mail will confirm the workshop details, the presenter and the necessary information needed to contact the presenter. Once all of the details have been confirmed, the provincial office will send an advertisement flyer to the local.
Registration for the workshop should not exceed 30 participants.
