In January, ETFO made a submission to the Drummond commission. The provincial government has asked the commission to review Ontario's public services and to make recommendations for expenditure cuts.
ETFO challenged the focus on public sector jobs and salaries as the sole means for reducing the deficit. Public sector jobs provide core services for all Ontarians. Attacking public sector jobs and wages will not contribute to economic recovery. Ontario must have a balanced approach that includes tax reform and investment in job creation.
