Brief on Bill 110, the Quality in the Classroom Act

Since the government announced its intent to implement teacher testing in Ontario, ETFO has worked diligently to develop proposals that would provide real accountability and have a direct and positive impact on teacher competency and student achievement.
The federation supports the principle of having one consistent province-wide performance appraisal framework for Ontario teachers. Unfortunately, the model outlined in Bill 110 is not the positive model we advocate and it presents a number of serious issues for teachers and the school environment.
