ETFO's Response to the Ministry of Education’s Consultation on Parent Engagement

In November 2009, ETFO provided a written response to the Ministry of Education’s consultation on its parent engagement policy.

ETFO supports the overall thrust of the ministry’s policy, but suggests that additional resources and training are required at the school board and school levels to support the government’s goals.

ETFO believes that there needs to be improved two-way communication between school staff and parents, guardians and other caregivers to foster better understanding of appropriate school- and home-based strategies to support student learning.
