PRS Matters Volume #58

Individual Education Plan (IEP): Advice to Members – The Individual Education Plan (IEP) is a written plan, required by legislation, describing the special education assistance provided to exceptional students and how that assistance will be delivered.  The enclosed document will assist ETFO members in understanding their obligations when participating in the development of IEPs. 

For more information about your responsibilities and rights in relation to IEPs, contact your local ETFO president. You can also view our PRS Matters page and read about Individual Education Plans. 

Project Overseas 

In this mailing you will find a one-page flyer promoting Project Overseas.  Application forms for this program won’t be ready until the end of the summer, but applicants will need letters from their doctor, their local president, and their principal. They might need to schedule these early.  Please draw this wonderful opportunity to members’ attention.

Summer Academy 2011

It’s time to register for ETFO's Summer Academy 2011!  This year’s program includes over 60 curriculum-based, practical courses addressing a range of curriculum areas, grades, and divisions. To see the flyer click here.

Most courses are offered at the low cost of $55.00 per course with lunch each day and many useful handouts included. For details, view the ETFO website and register. We look forward to another engaging and energizing summer of professional learning with our members this summer. Remember that many courses fill up very quickly!

Leaders for Tomorrow

This is an intensive, year-long leadership development opportunity. The program includes a variety of workshops and experiences related to leadership roles within ETFO and the broader community.

The course is designed to enhance leadership skills in an inclusive, anti-racist/anti-oppression framework. Release time will be provided for all members accepted. For details, and registration package, view the ETFO website.

...and still we rise 2012 

ETFO’s annual women’s conference is looking for workshop presenters. The theme, “Dare to Dream”, will explore issues of social justice, inclusive curriculum, restorative justice and conflict resolution. For details, view the ETFO website or click on the Application form.
