Resources For Parents
The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario views parents as crucial partners in the process of educating Ontario’s children. Teachers and parents must work together to ensure
- that children are ready, willing and able to learn both in the home and at school;
- that child welfare and poverty issues are forefront in the minds of all federal, provincial and municipal policy makers;
- that specialist teachers are in place in public elementary schools to encourage a healthy lifestyle, a love of reading, and the development of creativity through the arts;
- that Ontario’s elementary schools emphasize not only the learning of the basics, but also the development of the whole child; and
- that education funding is adequate to meet the learning needs of all students in all publicly-funded schools.
