The Need for Adequate Funding

Ontario teachers are concerned when inadequate government funding for public education hurts learning conditions for students.

Without appropriate funding for our elementary schools

• children feel lost in classes that are too big;
• students don’t get the individual attention they need;
• waiting lists for programs for students with special needs get longer;
• students don’t get the support of teacher librarians, music teachers, and physical education teachers; and
• parents have to put more and more of their own money into classroom basics.

Get Involved

You can support public education by becoming an active participant in your child’s education. Learn about the issues that affect learning in the classroom, talk to your child’s teacher, and speak up in favour of fair funding for public education—particularly in the elementary panel.
