This year ETFO held three, two-day conferences focused on Kindergarten with funding provided by the Ministry of Education. There were 450 members from over 50 locals across the province who were able to participate. Kindergarten teachers, occasional teachers, designated early childhood educators and teacher leaders were able to explore effective practices and pedagogy in the early years. The overarching theme for the conferences recognized the diverse nature and needs of our children and educators across the province. Participants had the opportunity to share ideas and learn strategies for creating engaging learning environments for children and enhance their knowledge about content and exemplary practices.

The conferences were powerful learning experiences for the members in attendance.  Members expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to focus on a range of kindergarten topics in light of the release of the final Kindergarten Program (2016).  Several of the keynote presentations from the three conferences will be posted on ETFO’s www.etfopley.ca website in the summer for members and kindergarten teams to use for their professional learning.
