Provincial Executive

​​ Sam Hammond 
Sam Hammond, President
Sam Hammond is from the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board, and has 20 years of elementary teaching experience as a physical and health education specialist. He served as an ETFO steward, and was the chief negotiator and grievance officer for the Hamilton-Wentworth Teacher Local. A member of the provincial Executive since 2003, Sam served three years as vice-president (2004-2007), and two years as first vice-president (2007-2009). Karen Campbell 
Karen Campbell, First Vice-President
Karen began her career as a special education teacher with the Toronto District School Board in 1993. She has worked extensively in the area of autism and children’s mental health. Karen is passionate about the early years, and also holds a diploma in early childhood education. She has served as a vice-president of the Elementary Teachers of Toronto (ETT) for 12 years as well as a grievance officer, benefits coordinator, strike team coordinator and the local’s chief negotiator. In 2009, Karen was elected to the ETFO provincial Executive. She was elected as ETFO vice-president in 2015 and First Vice-President in 2017. Karen is committed to promoting equity, and social justice.

 
Nancy Lawler 
Nancy Lawler, Vice-President
Nancy began her career in 1986 teaching grades 4-8 and physical education with the Grey County Board of Education (now the Bluewater District School Board). She served as Bluewater Teacher Local vice-president from 1999-2003, and became president in 2003. Her roles included chief negotiator benefit plan administrator and member of the bargaining team. At the provincial level, Nancy has served on the ETFO Humanity Fund board of directors. A previous chair of ETFO’s Collective Bargaining Committee, she was a member of the Provincial Benefit Committee Task Force and served as the ETFO representative to the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP) Benefit Adjudication Committee. She has held the positon of ETFO vice-president since 2015.

 
Monica Rusnak 
Monica Rusnak, Vice-President
Monica began her teaching career in 1988 with District School Board Ontario North East. She has taught in the primary, junior and intermediate divisions. Monica has served her local as president, vice-president, chief negotiator, executive member, collective bargaining representative, political action chair, RRSP accounts administrator and member of the Benefits Management Committee. She was chair of ETFO’s Pension Committee, and was a member of the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Benefits Adjudication Committee before she joined the provincial Executive in 2010. Monica was elected ETFO vice-president in 2017. She is actively involved in a variety of community projects and events.

 
Diane Dewing 
Diane Dewing, OTF Table Officer
Diane Dewing has taught core French and French immersion for the Upper Canada District School Board since 1982 and worked as specialist teacher with special needs children. Elected to the Upper Canada Occasional Teacher Local executive in 1998, she has served the local as grievance officer, chief negotiator and president. At the provincial level, Diane has served on 10 ETFO task forces, the Regulation 274 Workgroup as well as the Collective Bargaining, Hiring, and Budget committees. She also serves on the Canadian Teachers’ Federation Human Rights and Diversity Committee. Diane was first elected as ETFO’s representative at the Ontario Teachers’ Federation in 2015.
