Over the past five years, ETFO has sponsored a number of research-based initiatives to more fully understand teachers’ working conditions and how they impact on student learning. In 2006, ETFO published an extensive literature review by Dr. Kenneth Leithwood, “Teacher Working Conditions That Matter: Evidence for Change.” Following up on this work, ETFO held an international symposium in 2007. That is the main focus of this interactive website located at
www.workingconditions.net. Come listen to the experts, reflect on their work, and tell us how this relates to your classroom, your school, your board. What needs to change in Ontario’s public elementary schools? What supports should be in place? How can we work to ensure that student learning is the best it can be?
