This three-day symposium will focus on inclusive educational practice from a legal and human rights perspective as well as school improvement and ensuring student success in learning.
Sessions will explore the challenges and opportunities that face every school and district in Canada. Customized sessions will provide opportunities for individual participants to work as teams to explore and address challenges in their working environment. Participants can interact with our symposium team and each other to develop strategies for moving forward.

| | Joyous Music Making: The Child and the Classroom | August 12 - 23, 2013 | Laurier's Waterloo campus | Joyous Music Making: The Child and the Classroom (Levels 1 and 2)
Continuing Studies is thrilled be offering level 1 and (NEW!) level 2 of Joyous Music Making. Both courses are approved through the Kodaly Societies of Canada and Ontario. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive level-appropriate certification.
Level 1 - is aimed at the primary classroom teacher, covering topics such as music reading and writing and choral conducting.
Level 2 - is aimed at the junior teacher, who has completed level 1, focusing on building a vibrant music program in the J/I grades.

- A focused session that will build advanced knowledge of the Safety Guidelines.
- Particular attention to changes in relation to concussion prevention and management
- Participate in discussions and have access to a panel of experts who will answer questions on implementation challenges, and provide current information on safe practices within the education, recreation and medical fields.

- Fun and interactive workshops that provide hands-on, practical experience
- Up-to-date information and strategies to address key topics such as mental health, substance use, bullying, injury prevention, healthy eating and TGfU.

- Basic principles of how to teach, assess and evaluate health and physical education
- Integrating inclusion principles within health and physical activities
- Activity ideas and tools to use in early learning settings
- Creative ways to develop and maintain health-related fitness
