In this webcast we will critically examine the new areas of the mathematics curriculum with an anti-oppressive and anti-racist lens to identify barriers in curriculum design and suggest ways to create opportunities for all students to be successful. Re-humanizing mathematics as an equity action creates space for educators to reimagine mathematics teaching and learning in ways that affirm students’ identities and empowers students to use mathematics learning to address issues that impact their world. Centering equity in mathematics, centers the learners, so that all students have an opportunity to engage in learning that reflects their lived experiences and learning that connects them to new experiences or the experiences of others.
