These critical conversations will provide participants the space to engage in learning about historical and current issues that impact Asian communities in Ontario and Canada. The content explores the new document entitled Addressing Anti-Asian Racism A Resource for Educators, a curriculum project in partnership with ETFO provincial and the Toronto District School Board. Each session will explore a section of the resource and offer opportunities to probe key questions through small and large group discussions. In July 2017, ETFO and Right To Play Canada collaborated and developed the First Nations, Métis and Inuit Education Resource Engaging Learners Through Play. This virtual workshop will take members through the play-based activities from the resource while engaging in learning and dialogue about Indigenous worldviews, treaties, residential schools and leadership. Workshops will focus on activities and resources to ensure a day of teaching runs smoothly for all. Participants will hear from an engaging keynote speaker and presenters who will share practical applications and resources to support and engage students in your teaching practice. Each participant will attend two workshops from the choices provided. Participants will attend one workshop in the morning and one workshop in the afternoon. Participants are asked to select three of the workshop options in order of preference. We will do our best to accommodate your top two requests.
