Program Overview
Since 1962 Canadian teachers have been making a difference in the professional lives of teachers and the education of students in developing countries through Project Overseas. Project Overseas is a program of the Canadian Teachers’ Federation.

Working with teacher organizations in host countries, Canadian teachers present professional development workshops side-by-side with experienced in-country teachers. Because Project Overseas participants teach teachers, applicants are required to have at least five years teaching experience in Canada.
ETFO sponsors fourteen members to participate in Project Overseas. Participants volunteer their time. ETFO, through the Canadian Teachers’ Federation, covers all expenses. In the summer of 2007 ETFO Project Overseas participants travelled to eight different countries.
Participating in Project Overseas is a wonderful opportunity to meet international colleagues, to learn about another country, to expand your professional development skills, and to bring back learning to share with your students and local colleagues.
On this section of the website you can read about the experiences of some ETFO members.
