This document provides an overview of ETFO's First Nations, Métis and Inuit (FNMI) education resources and professional learning opportunities.
Various FNMI education events take place during the school year. Visit the Upcoming Professional Learning Events page regularly to see what new opportunities are available.
EWS workshops are available to ETFO locals and cover a wide range of equity-related themes. There are two Indigenous Education workshops available: (1) Busting Myths & Misconceptions About Indigenous Peoples; and (2) Indigenous Community Engagement. For more information visit the Equity Workshops page.
Our AQ courses are respectful of teacher professional judgement and honour adult learning principles. ETFO AQ courses meet the guidelines set out by the Ontario College of Teachers and are accredited by the College. ETFO has an Indigenous education AQ course: Teaching First Nations, Métis and Inuit Children. For more information, visit http://etfo-aq.ca.
ETFO has two online Indigenous education book clubs for members: (1) Perspectives and the Truth and Reconciliation; and (2) Cultural Connections. These book clubs are free. Subscribe to ETFO’s eNewsletter to keep in the loop on when registration is open.
There are several different resources on ETFO's Spirit Horse webpage, including the following: FNMI Literacy Growth Chart; FNMI Literacy Growth Chart Literacy Prompts; Land Acknowledgement Statement Poster; Celebrating FNMI Women Poster; FNMI Brochure; and Truth and Reconciliation Webinars. These resources can be found online at www.spirithorse.ca in the FNMI Resource section.
