Vote Because Education Matters
October 3, 2011
Hi, I’m Sam Hammond, president of the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario.
On Thursday, October the 6th, people across the province will go to the polls to elect our next provincial government.
It is so very important that ETFO members get out and vote this Thursday.
Over the last eight years, we’ve seen positive changes in the publicly funded elementary system in Ontario. We’ve seen a reduction in class sizes in grades one through three, the introduction of full-day kindergarten with a full time teacher and a full time ECE working together on behalf of four and five year olds, and we’ve seen increased investments in specialist teachers across the board in this province.
On October the 6th, join with me in electing an education-friendly government. We need to ensure that that kind of progress continues. We need to elect a government that will respect our collective agreements--a government that will respect the collective bargaining process we are about to enter.
I’m calling on all ETFO members to get out and vote... because education matters.
