Dear Syed,
On behalf of the 83,000 members of the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario, I extend our solidarity with the Migrant Rights Network and the workers you support. You are doing critical work to support marginalized workers in Canada during this unprecedented health crisis. We fully support your efforts to protect the rights of migrant and undocumented people.
No worker should ever be forced into unhealthy or potentially dangerous workplaces, regardless of their immigration status. Workers deserve the full support of all levels of government to stay home when needed during this crisis. And when workers return to work, it should be in a safe environment in which they can fully exercise their rights as workers. Discrimination and racist double standards have existed for far too long in Canada. Please know you can count on ETFO’s political support and I hope that this monetary support can help sustain your important organizing work.

My best wishes and solidarity,

Sam Hammond,
President
