Injured Workers’ Day

June 1st annually

Every year since 1983, on June 1, workers across Ontario mark Injured Workers’ Day to demand justice. Events and rallies are an opportunity to celebrate the gains made by the actions of labour activists to raise concerns about safety and workplace injuries and to remind governments to not ignore injured workers.

Just like we're seeing with other social programs and public services, a regime of austerity reigns at the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), and this has meant significant challenges for people who have been injured or made ill at work.

With workers' compensation in a state of crisis and health and safety top of mind, we encourage you to join these actions.

On June 1st Injured Workers’ Day events have traditionally taken place at Queen’s Park. On May 31st, on the eve of Injured Workers’ Day, the Annual Women of Inspiration Vigil has been held overnight at the steps of the legislature since 1985.
