ETFO is extremely concerned that the Conservative government is using the COVID-19 pandemic to revoke an important hiring regulation that supports Ontario’s world-class public education system.
Instead of focusing on what’s best for students and what schools need right now – smaller class sizes to ensure physical distancing is possible, proper ventilation, appropriate masking protocols – the Conservative government and its Minister of Education are choosing to undermine confidence in public education by eliminating fair hiring practices.
With no fair hiring regulation hiring practices return back to nepotism and that's just wrong.
