Today, SEIU Local 2, which represents approximately 60 support staff employed by ETFO at the provincial office, commenced a legal strike. These workers include secretarial, IT, accounting, operations and facilities staff. We respect their right to take this action as part of the collective bargaining process.  We have been engaged in negotiations with this group since June of 2025. 

Collective bargaining can involve challenging moments, including strike action, which is one of the lawful tools available to workers to advance negotiations. ETFO remains committed to reaching a fair, negotiated agreement with our support staff.

The work of support staff is vital to the effective functioning of ETFO. Their contributions are highly valued, and we recognize the professionalism they bring to supporting ETFO’s 84,000 members. While respecting the rights of our employees participating in strike action, we are taking steps to minimize disruptions.
