Grand Erie teacher Carolyn Proulx-Wootton re-elected to ETFO provincial Executive

Carolyn Proulx-Wootton, a teacher and president of the Grand Erie Elementary Teachers’ Federation, has been re-elected to the provincial Executive of the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO). Proulx-Wootton has served on ETFO’s provincial Executive since 2022.
“Our public institutions are under attack, and now more than ever, we must be bold in defending them,” says Proulx-Wootton. “By strengthening solidarity and deepening connections with parents and communities, we will build power that cannot be ignored. Together, we fight for justice, equity, and a future where public education remains a force for good."
Proulx-Wootton obtained a bachelor of education from the University of Ottawa in 2002. She taught in the United Kingdom before joining the Grand Erie District School Board in 2006.
At the local level, Proulx-Wootton was elected to the Executive of the Grand Erie Teacher Local in 2013, becoming treasurer and second vice-president, and then president in 2022. She has served on a number of her local’s committees, including: Arts, Collective Bargaining, Political Action/Public Relations, Status of Women, and Social Justice.
Provincially, Proulx-Wootton has served as a member of ETFO’s Arts Standing Committee, and participated in a number of ETFO conferences and workshops, including Union School, Collective Bargaining Academy, and Women in Action.
ETFO represents approximately 84,000 members, including public elementary teachers, occasional teachers, designated early childhood educators, education support personnel, and professional support personnel. Visit BuildingBetterSchools.ca.
