Peel teachers Colleen Elep, Chad Mills receive ETFO Writer’s Award

Toronto, ON – The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) has presented Peel teachers Colleen Elep and Chad Mills with its 2021 Writer’s Award for their blog undoctrin8.caThis award is presented to an active ETFO member or a group of members to recognize published or unpublished works. 

 

Through their writing and teaching practices, Elep and Mills re-imagine global and inclusive education as it stands today with a focus on where it should be going tomorrow. Their mission with undoctrin8.ca is to challenge, examine, and investigate norms, assumptions and policies in the field of public education and beyond.

Elep is teacher of English Language Learners with a focus on Social Studies, literature and digital media literacy. Mills is an educator and facilitator, who is focused on diversity, community-building and special education. “Colleen and Chad’s education blog skillfully addresses the intersectionality of education, society and culture,” says ETFO President Sam Hammond. “Their writing raises critical questions and topics that should prompt educators and all involved in public education to take urgent action to ensure equity and social justice within our education system and broader society.”
