Rainbow teacher Liana Holm elected to ETFO provincial Executive

August 13, 2025

TORONTO, ON – Liana Holm, a teacher and president of the Rainbow Teacher Local, has been elected to the provincial Executive of the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO).

“By standing together, we will harness ETFO’s collective strength to secure better working conditions and stronger safety protocols for our members,” says Holm. “We’ll ensure members’ voices are heard and their concerns addressed, creating safe, supportive environments for both educators and students. I’m honoured to represent members at the Executive table while defending public education.”

Holm began her teaching career in 2000 with the Rainbow District School Board. She taught grades 3 through 8, with a strong focus on supporting students with special education needs, in Espanola, Manitoulin, and Sudbury. She is a dedicated advocate for the unique challenges faced by educators in northern communities.

Holm was elected president of the Rainbow Teacher Local in 2020, following her earlier roles as treasurer and first vice-president beginning in 2011. At the provincial level for ETFO, she served on the Long Term Disability Governance Board from 2014 to 2021. Since 2022, she has been a member of the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Adjudication Committee.

ETFO represents approximately 83,000 members, including public elementary teachers, occasional teachers, designated early childhood educators, education support personnel, and professional support personnel. Visit BuildingBetterSchools.ca
